There is an interesting book entitled “The charity industry” which seems very pertinent to me: the poor farmers did not get anything out of all this money. The topics in this book are as old as my grandfather and it would be more useful to investigate how lobbies finance and have funded some environmental associations that belong to different political areas, the lobbies manage and finance them according to how convenient they are and where and how the wind blows…
Some time ago I read (I don’t remember where) that the lobbies first polluted and now they are discovering the damage they have done to the environment because they profit again on the remediation of the sites they polluted themselves. Pulcinella’s secret seems that before some inconvenient “informer” nobody knew anything about the Land of the Fires of Augusta of the Taranto river and of the polluted Bussi water or of the ships loaded with poisons sunk in the Mediterranean. Indeed, speaking of ships, an urban legend reports that when the Jolly Rosso was sunk in Calabria, near Cetraro, that night the whole coast was manned by law enforcement. Now in newspapers and on television there is a swarm of journalistic investigative programs, such as reports, which report on places of facts and stories of pollution even if nothing is ever covered.
On the other hand, if the major national industries are linked to asphalt, cement and transport mechanics, of course all this has happened, certainly more enlightened minds would have already organized a more modern waste storage system as done in other countries. toxic and not just sending them to Africa or burying them in the countryside or hiding them under the doormat at home.
A sensitive state would have already organized a service for the recovery and composting of all domestic garbage for some time, earning the same if not more than today that they send them with trucks around Italy from one place to another. even fools for example in Abruzzo have polluted the aquifers of the tirino and have made the wells downstream of the polluted site and not upstream, in one of the richest regions of water in all of Europe they have made us drink polluted water for fifty years as then if no one had ever known anything and never made adequate checks.
There is even talk of trash burned in the high kilns of cement factories or even toxic waste transformed into bricks together with clay or even shredded and given to farmers to be scattered in the countryside. on the other hand, just think of the sludge of the purifiers used as fertilizer in the Po valley or even in the Salento where for decades and decades the farmers also consciously use products that they call “medicines” or “siccatuttu”, in dialect, so as not to grow grass under olive trees or at signs on vineyards or fruit trees: be careful of fruit treated with plant protection products …
