Con le mafie si è scelto di convivere. Forse perché non si è mai riusciti a comprenderne appieno la pericolosità e la capacità di inquinare e deformare i rapporti sociali, politici ed economici. Da tempo le mafie, soprattutto in Italia ma anche in altre parti del mondo, alterano le regole del mercato e della democrazia, creando disuguaglianze sociali e ammorbando i territori nei quali si innervano.
